Can someone help me, dry itchy throat and stuffy nose..read more!?

thanks for taking the time to read this...what can this be first im a pool attendant so i work outside all day even on cold rainy days i stay outside...one day at work my nose was running then i would sneeze here and there later that night when i arrived home i was getting chills my mom says im coming down with a cold, idk! but the next morning my throat became itchy and dry to the point the inside of my ears would itch here and there and the a little pain would come..the next day i went to the doctor and explained to her everything i just wrote she looked into my mouth and in my ears and said i was fine my throat is dry but thats because its irrtated because the changing on the weather..so i asked her could it be mono be 3 days ago my cuzin had pizza and bit a small piece and i didnt kno she had it and i ate it but the doctor said i didnt have that and it doesnt make sense to test for that because that can only be spreaded through direct contact of saliva...so can i just be coming down with a cold or what??? thanks again!
